NICA live: TRIO ABSTRAKT

In the organizer's words:

20:00 I Concert I Christuskirche

Trio Abstrakt is a declaration of love to new chamber music. With precision and dedication, the trio combines chamber music tradition with a constant exploration of the here and now. The instrumentation of saxophone, piano and percussion enables the ensemble to immerse itself in diverse musical styles and integrate influences from improvised, electronic, classical, rock and jazz music.

The ensemble has set itself the goal of creating a 'music of today' by focusing on a non-hierarchical collaboration with composers. In this concert program, music by Brice Pauset and Mark Andre will be presented alongside a new work by composer Macarena Ros manich.

Macarena Rosmanich, a Chilean composer based in Germany, is one of the most active international voices in the growing scene of Latin American female composers. Although her career has mainly taken place in Europe, her contact with the contemporary Chilean scene keeps alive her desire to motivate future female composers in her home country.

Brice Pauset, born in 1965 in Besançon, studied music and medieval philosophy. From 1984 to 1986, he studied composition and electroacoustic music with Michel Zbar; composition studies with Michel Philippot, Gérard Grisey, Alain Bancquart, Pierre Boulez, Klaus Huber, Henri Dutilleux and Karlheinz Stockhausen; lessons with Franco Donatoni and Brian Ferneyhough. He has received various awards, including from the Fondation Marcel Bleustein-Blanchet and IRCAM. Regular collaborations with IRCAM, the ensembles Accroche-Note, Klangforum Wien and ensemble recherche; composition commissions from various radio stations and festivals as well as from the Freiburg im Breisgau Opera.

The Paris-born composer Mark Andre creates existential spaces of experience in his music that are characterized by subtle processes of change. The question of disappearance, which relates to all musical parameters such as sound, form and subject, is at the heart of his work. In his fine and concentrated chamber music as well as in his orchestral and music theater works, the devout Protestant proves himself to be a sensitive explorer of sound.
