A long overdue rethink in the construction industry towards a focus on existing buildings has led to new questions being asked - and having to be asked - about the design of planning processes. This is because the established repertoire often reaches its limits when it comes to converting and extending existing buildings or adapting and readjusting processes. Aspects of participation and involvement in planning and construction developments are increasingly coming to the fore and must take into account the diversity of our democratic society. In this context, what can "learning" transformation processes look like that take account of increasing complexity and open up sustainable perspectives? Who is involved in the processes, when and how? Which planning instruments are useful and when might experiments or open processes be more helpful?
Especially against the background of long planning periods, there are still many projects in the pipeline that are based on demolition - new construction and now need to be revised. So: everything back to square one?
On this evening, we will discuss where to start for an inventory-oriented and user-supported development and how processes can be designed for further thinking and further building.
