The Lovebird Festival returns - with fresh energy and new perspectives. Jazz remains the musical heart of the festival - open, curious and connecting. From here, cross-genre soundscapes between hip-hop, electro, indie, funk and soul unfold, creating space for surprises and new discoveries.
Nneka is an artist, activist, songwriter - and a voice that transforms biographical experience into musical power. In her songs, she combines identity, resistance, hope and self-reflection into a language that naturally transcends the boundaries between genres. Neo-soul, hip-hop, Afrobeats, reggae, jazz and electronic pop textures are not juxtaposed, but intertwine - as an expression of a life that has never been one-dimensional.
Her story is characterized by ruptures and new beginnings: Growing up in Nigeria, later ending up in Germany, confronted early on with strict structures, prohibitions and internal pressure. Music initially became possible for Nneka via detours - but then became the central tool of self-empowerment. This urgency gave rise to pieces that begin personally and end socially. An early turning point was the single "Heartbeat", which marked her international breakthrough: a remix by Chase & Status made the song famous worldwide, and it was later sampled by Rita Ora.
The album Love Supreme is exemplary of this path. Created during a phase of isolation and reorientation, it seems like a documented process: away from victim status and towards responsibility, compassion and inner freedom. Nneka's live concerts are therefore more than just a set - they are encounters carried by attitude, warmth and a voice that has nothing to prove because it has something to say.
