NO GO. Performance im öffentlichen Raum von ANGIE HIESL + ROLAND KAISER
In the organizer's words:
Borders are the topic of our time. Whether it is about external borders, the relationship between the sexes or the social border between those at the top and those at the bottom - social lines of conflict are increasingly looking like fronts in a bitterly fought war. Discrimination, hate speech and exclusion as a means of fighting for social power have become part of everyday life.
As an artistic intervention in urban space, NO GO addresses the omnipresence and damaging effect of discriminatory and exclusionary practices. The central element with which the performers act is the fence. With this simple yet effective means, NO GO shows that discrimination hurts, no matter what face it wears. But NO GO also shows that you can fight back. Being a victim is not a fate!
Ottoplatz is a place of transit and as such is characterized by anonymity and isolation. The deportations of Jewish people, Sinti and Roma from the Rhineland also started from the underground platform of the neighboring Deutz train station. NO GO deliberately intervenes at this point in the urban space and makes a statement against social separation, exclusion and discrimination.
