Negotiating Power is a physical uprising - raw, powerful and vibrant. The combination of contemporary dance and Krump creates a powerful performance about the reflection and negotiation of forms of discrimination.
Expressive and realistic, the project deals with different forms of discrimination, some of which are unconsciously reproduced.
The performance confronts social inequalities without making accusations. It invites us to question our own perceptions and attributions and visualizes solidarity with one another.
Inspired by Augusto Boal's Theatre of the Oppressed, our core artistic team's actual experiences of discrimination based on skin color, sexuality and gender are incorporated into the creative process and form the basis of the dance theater performance.
The production is accompanied by participatory workshops (laboratories). The aim here is to create a space in which the reflections triggered can be translated into concrete action strategies for everyday life. In this way, Negotiating Power becomes a collective search for change. The dance theater piece is also conceived for a deaf audience. Indika Sandaruwan is a visual vernacular artist and poet. He accompanies the piece artistically and is the fourth performer on stage
There will be a free workshop accompanying the performance on 13.12. from 17:00 to 19:00. Please register at edu@tanzfaktur.eu.
