Winner of the 2025 Mara Cassens Prize, hailed by critics as a “literary sensation” (WDR5) that “dissects middle-class conditions with razor-sharp precision” (SWR Kultur)—Nora Schramm’s debut novel *Hohle Räume* (Matthes & Seitz) has been showered with praise and was the talk of the town.
In early 2026 , her poetry debut *Die Erlöschung* was published by the Cologne-based press parasitenpresse . A long poem about men in nature. They band together, they roam in solitude, they arm themselves, they dig holes, they hate women. Everything they say has already been said. They try to survive, to conquer, to give birth to themselves, yes, even to heal—and above all: to finally be independent—islands, completely at peace.
Nora Schramm, born in 1993 in the Southern Palatinate, studied foreign languages and cultural studies in Giessen as well as theories and practices of professional writing in Cologne. In 2025, she received the Mara Cassens Prize from the Literaturhaus Hamburg for her debut novel *Hohle Räume *. She lives in Cologne.
