ONEGIN

Created in 1965 based on the literary model by Alexander Pushkin, the story of the young Tatyana, who falls in love with the arrogant dandy Onegin and is cruelly rejected by him, still touches audiences today. Onegin has been danced in Munich for over fifty years, and many of the great dancers from Eva Evdokimova to Konstanze Vernon, Evelyn Hart, Lucia Lacarra and Natalia Osipova have given it their own unmistakable character. The role of Tatyana opens up more possibilities for role creation than almost any other narrative ballet: over the course of the two-and-a-half-hour evening, Tatyana develops from a naively dreamy teenager into a mature woman who ultimately has to make the decision between passion and duty in a dramatic confrontation.
