OPPENHEIMER (70mm Version)

In the organizer's words:

OPPENHEIMER IN 70MM!

At the Savoy, the film is shown exclusively in the analog 70mm version. 5 perf/70mm film offers a brighter, clearer image, with 3 times the resolution of standard projection formats, using the process of projecting light through celluloid to deliver clear images in rich analog color with state-of-the-art digital sound.

With his epic thriller OPPENHEIMER, filmed in IMAX®, screenwriting and directing icon Christopher Nolan (Inception, Tenet) transports audiences into the pulse-pounding paradox of an enigmatic man who must risk the destruction of the world to save it.

The film stars Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer (Peaky Blinders, Inception) and Emily Blunt (A Quiet Place) as his wife, biologist and botanist Katherine "Kitty" Oppenheimer. Academy Award® winner Matt Damon (The Bourne Conspiracy) portrays General Leslie Groves Jr, head of the Manhattan Project, and Robert Downey Jr (Avengers: Endgame) has taken on the role of Lewis Strauss, co-founder of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission. Academy Award® nominee Florence Pugh (Don't Worry Darling) plays psychiatrist Jean Tatlock, Benny Safdie (Licorice Pizza) plays theoretical physicist Edward Teller and Michael Angarano (This Is Us: This is Life) plays Robert Serber. In addition, Josh Hartnett (Pearl Harbor) is seen in the role of nuclear physicist Ernest Lawrence

OPPENHEIMER also features Oscar® winner Rami Malek (No Time to Die) and reunites Nolan with Oscar® winner Kenneth Branagh (Belfast) after Tenet. The rest of the cast includes Dane DeHaan (Valerian - City of a Thousand Planets), Dylan Arnold (Halloween series), David Krumholtz (The Ballad of Buster Scruggs), Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story) and Matthew Modine (The Dark Knight Rises).

The film is based on the book "J. Robert Oppenheimer: The Biography," for which authors Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin won the Pulitzer Prize. The screenplay is written by Christopher Nolan himself, who also acted as producer together with Oscar® nominees Emma Thomas (Dunkirk, Inception) and Charles Roven (American Hustle).

OPPENHEIMER was shot on a combination of IMAX® 65mm and 65mm large-format film and, for the first time ever, partially on IMAX® black-and-white analog film.

Nolan's previous films, including Tenet, Dunkirk, Interstellar, Inception and the Dark Knight trilogy, have grossed more than $5 billion worldwide and have been nominated for a total of 36 Oscars®, including twice for Best Picture, and won 11 awards.
