Orgelsommer-Konzert mit Michael Gilles aus Gießen

When Michael Gilles takes his place at the organ, a deep-rooted tradition of church music meets a palpable joy in playing. Born in Koblenz, the musician studied in Cologne and Leipzig under Stefan Engels and Thomas Lennartz, among others, and today leads a wide range of musical projects as regional cantor in Gießen. His concert tours have already taken him to perform on major organs throughout Germany, including the cathedrals in Cologne, Freiberg, and Fulda.

On Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., he will perform as a guest artist at the Dresden Organ Summer festival in the Kreuzkirche in Dresden. For this organ concert, he has prepared a program that fully exploits the organ’s rich versatility: Bach’s Baroque depth naturally blends with vibrant Romanticism, contemporary touches, and rousing film music from “The Lord of the Rings” and “Pirates of the Caribbean.”
