Osternacht mit Lichtfeier und Mettenspiel der Kruzianer

On Easter Sunday, March 28, 2027, at 6:00 a.m., the Dresden Kreuzkirche invites you to a solemn Easter Vigil with a celebration of light and the traditional Mettenspiel by the Crucians. The ceremony begins atmospherically at the Easter fire at Portal C, where the Easter candle is lit and the light is then carried into the still-dusky church.

For 90 years, the Easter Mass performed by the Crucians has been a fixed highlight, in which the Easter story is brought to life in a dramatic and musically moving way. The Dresden Kreuzchor, the Capella Sanctae Crucis and members of the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra perform under the direction of Kreuzkantor Martin Lehmann and Kreuzorganist Holger Gehring.

The approximately two-hour celebration provides a glamorous setting for the Feast of the Resurrection. Attendance is free of charge, but an appropriate donation is requested. Easter candles are already available from Palmarum at the tower and concert box office. In case of bad weather, the entire event will take place in the church.
