OX: Ausstellung überdimensionaler Kunst in Köln

The French artist OX infiltrates the art space EЯWIN and billboards in the Belgian Quarter with new advertising-critical works.

The Яeclaim collective is showing works by the well-known French artist OX in the exhibition ACHTUNG WERBUNG from 08.06.2024-30.08.24 in Cologne Ehrenfeld. The highlight of the exhibition are ten advertising-critical works on large-scale posters, which can be seen from 08.06.24-17.06.24 in the Belgian Quarter. During the opening event on 08.06.2024, at 18:00, OX will speak at EЯWIN about 40 years of intervention in public space.

Mostly in the crossfire of his interest: ADVERTISING. He comments on, criticizes or adds to them on large-scale posters. Everything can become a reference. Every sign can take center stage and every message can become an empty frame. OX has been billposting public space with his art for more than 40 years. His exhibition space is the public. The Яeclaim collective has been opposing the commercialization of public space since 2019. To this end, they organized the Яeclaim Award from 2019 to 2022. A group exhibition of international artists whose works were shown on large-scale posters in public spaces as part of a 10-day festival. In their new art space EЯWIN, they continue their work with a more exhibition-oriented approach. Three times a year, they offer artists a platform to negotiate relevant issues relating to the public sphere and public spaces in order to intensify the dialog between art and society.
