"Songs, Poems & Stories" is exactly the entertaining evening that audiences have known for years. A poetic summer treat of readings, performances and wonderful music, in which renowned poets, a novelist and a songwriter present their songs, poems and stories to the walking or sitting audience.

JB Paterson is a critically acclaimed folk musician from Cedar Creek in north-eastern Australia. He has been compared to folk greats such as Neil Young, Bob Dylan and Townes Van Zandt, and has built a remarkable DIY career with his music and his own recording studio.

Heuß writes poetically about the tattered landscapes of her home region, disused factories and the quarry in Beucha. The idyll only exists as a reflection on a postcard. Or as a longing for Italy. Heuß' poetry is "pointed diagnostics of the present" (FAZ). And "behind the melancholy of her verses lurks insight" (according to Jayne-Ann Igel in the afterword to this book).

Born in Berlin in 1953, Michael G. Fritz is one of the best-known contemporary German-language authors based in Dresden (and alternately in Berlin). He has published numerous novels and prose books. His latest is called "Die Stille ist das Rieseln des Sandes" (Silence is the trickling of sand) and contains mainly short texts, prose miniatures - "precisely set and designed for effect through reduction", wrote the "Dresdner Morgenpost".

The Palais Sommer is the big open-air festival in Dresden. It combines music, art, dance, yoga, workshops, literature, gastronomy and much more. Free admission.

In 2026, the Palais Sommer will take place from June 20 to July 26 on Dresden's Neumarkt square. Afterwards, the daily yoga program will continue in Alaunpark until 30 August. A total of around 200 events are planned.
