In PARTY SCENE, the acclaimed Irish company THISISPOPBABY now turns its attention to this complex of intimacy and desire, isolation and addiction, elation and fall. Without triggering prejudices or stigmatizing queers, the dance theater production by Philip Connaughton and Phillip McMahon addresses questions about the risks and dark sides of intoxication. And at the same time shows its seductive power. PARTY SCENE does not give a lecture. Rather, it initiates discussions. The pulsating, sweat-inducing show lets bodies speak. To tell stories from the inside of a community that thrives on mutual mindfulness and must not close its eyes to the crisis. When is it time to end the party?
