Paul Heller invites Caris Hermes Group XXL

She is a bassist with heart and soul, Caris Hermes once said, but that doesn't mean she has to play the theme and solo in every piece. She has been able to integrate the sonorous depth of her bass position as a sidewoman in various ensembles as well as in the WDR Big Band, but it is above all as a bandleader that the immense range of her instrument unfolds in a group dynamic context. She feels particularly at home in the field of tension between swing, groove, straight ahead and subtle modern jazz, yet she is always open to complex visions with an open outcome - and also to such a promising line-up coup as the Caris Hermes Group XXL! "Extra Extra Large" stands for a particularly large size, but in this case it is also ideally suited to illuminating soundscapes and moods. Caris Hermes will be joined in her familiar band by Carlotta Ribbe, known for her subtle duet playing with Anna-Karina Barthel, singer Maika Küster, who delights audiences both with the ensemble "Der weise Panda" and with her own band MAIKA, and guitarist Philipp Brämsig, who has long been one of the most important protagonists not only on the Cologne jazz scene. With XXL, Caris Hermes will give everyone involved plenty of room to breathe together.
