The young Munich photographer Julian Schulz has been working as one of the many artists at Fat Cat since last year. He has been working for almost as long on the "People of Fat Cat" project, a unique photographic documentation that portrays the Fat Cat artists in their respective workspaces. From November 26, he will be presenting the multifaceted kaleidoscope that has emerged in the foyer of the Carl Orff Saal at the Fat Cat: around 140 photos that answer the frequently asked questions: Who works at the Fat Cat, where, how and with whom?

But what this extensive documentation also reveals at the same time: What new collaborations, connections and projects are emerging at the Fat Cat? And why affordable spaces for creative work are so important in this expensive city! Because without a creative workspace, there can be no creative growth in art.

"People of Fat Cat" also shows the potential that can unfold here: creative, diverse, colorful and open to debate between young and experienced, between artists and cultural workers and the neighborhood: Haidhausen. The interviews and statements of the artists portrayed here make this clear!

The Fat Cat, the former Gasteig in Rosenheimer Straße, is being used as a subculture venue until its planned renovation. Almost 200 artists can develop their creativity here: in rehearsal rooms, music and dance studios, ateliers, offices, store workshops, clubs and restaurants.

Julian Schulz is a freelance photographer and designer with a studio in Fat Cat. In his work, he explores the photographic visualization of technology and art. He works sometimes on small, sometimes on very long-term projects in which the boundaries between science, art and society are often blurred.
