The time is almost here: Peppa is starting school. She can already write her name. She can do a little math, too. Not to mention playing music, painting, and of course dancing—that’s what she loves most of all. Now it’s time to pack her backpack and off she goes!
In the cozy studio theater at the Alte Wursterei in Cologne-Ehrenfeld, children ages 5 and up can attend a performance together with their parents or grandparents. The show lasts half an hour. Payment is made on a pay-what-you-can basis after the show, depending on how much you enjoyed it and what you can afford. Afterward, you can relax and enjoy some delicious cake, iced tea, and lemonade. Children get a free drink. And anyone who wants to can draw a picture for Peppa or write her a letter.

“Peppa Goes to School”

is one of seven productions for young audiences. These nonverbal dance theater pieces use dance, clowning, and music to tell stories based on themes from children’s everyday lives. They are characterized by subtle acting, a diverse range of movement, and empathetic interaction. Transcending language and cultural barriers, the productions create emotional experiences entirely without words. They stimulate the children’s imagination, their own desire to play and be creative, and their (including verbal) interaction with one another. Since 2018, Peppa has been touring daycare centers in Cologne, the surrounding area, and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with her productions, and can also be seen at the Alte Wursterei. She has already reached more than 15,000 young audience members.
