Sergei Prokofiev’s *Peter and the Wolf*, a classic of musical storytelling, takes center stage at this special family concert in the Silbersaal. But the Munich Chamber Opera takes it a step further: a musical journey of discovery transforms this familiar work into a whole new experience. A concert format that doesn’t explain music, but makes it tangible—with lightness, depth, and in a way that leaves the audience in awe.
Special Arrangements
A wind quintet not only presents Prokofiev’s masterpiece *Peter and the Wolf* for the whole family but also invites the audience on a journey through the world of classical music. What does an oboe sound like? Why is the bassoon so big? How are the notes produced on a clarinet or flute? Why is the French horn so loud? And what happens when they all play together? Always child-friendly, poetic, and with a touch of humor.
Experience Music in the Space
An actor serves as the narrator, guiding the audience through the concert, giving voice and form to the characters, and—together with the musicians—bringing the works of the great masters to life in a way that engages the senses. For the performance isn’t just for the audience—it’s also with the audience. As a result, children and the young at heart experience the various wind instruments in a unique and moving way, and the enchanting fairy tale becomes a true live experience.
