Adil Smaali & Le Grand Bal Raï (France/Morocco)
[DE] The group pays homage to the great classics of Algerian raï from the ’70s through its golden era in the ’90s, while simultaneously breathing new life into them. Led by Adil Smaali’s charismatic voice, Le Grand Bal Raï’s high-energy performances are musical experiences that sweep the audience away into wild dancing.

Walid Ben Selim (Morocco/France)
[DE] The French-Moroccan singer and composer Walid Ben Selim is one of the defining voices of the contemporary Arab music scene. Together with harpist Marie-Marguerite Cano, he gives the texts of great Sufi poets and the prominent Palestinian writer Mahmoud Darwish a haunting musical form. The duo creates a hypnotic, enchanting atmosphere when song, poetry, and harp merge under the open sky.
