Piano Day(s) 2024 Düsseldorf

As in previous years, Düsseldorf will also be celebrating PIANO DAY in 2024. Since 2015, this day, founded by Nils Frahm, has been celebrated all over the world with concerts and events centered around the piano. This year on 22.03. with an OFF-Church evening in the Christuskirche and two further concerts in the pool on 23.+ 24.03.

During these days, various local and international artists will place the piano at the center of their work, interpreting the instrument in their very own way and inviting you to rediscover its sound again and again.

On Friday evening, for example, Raffael Sey- fried from Düsseldorf and Nathan Shubert from Vancouver combine piano sounds with the sounds of their modular synthesizers and effects devices and use the entire church space as an acoustic canvas for their piano soundscapes.

The following day, things will be more intimate and direct in the pool with Linda Rum. The Berlin musician brings her piano songs and piano miniatures with her. And the duo Phil- ipp Sutter (piano) and Simon Wangen (cello) from Cologne will present their program "Do you believe in spring?" - neoclassical music, new jazz and Cinéma Nordique.

The Piano Day(s) end on Sunday in the pool with a matinee. On this morning, Thilo Schölpen, Tom Blankenberg and Voide will embark on three very different musical journeys with pure piano sound. Whether rhythmically flowing, ambivalently melancholic or of condensed nonchalance, it will be a varied program.
