PINA BERLIN "ALBUM RELEASE TOUR"
After four years of passionate work, fifteen years of dreaming, overcoming a chronic illness and numerous cell phone recordings at 5am, the time has finally come for Pina Berlin to release her long-awaited debut album and go on tour. Pina Berlin is the solo musical project of Pinar Tatlikazan, a Turkish-German singer-songwriter, jazz vocalist and vocal coach. She represents complex cultural identities and tells of her dealings with illness and societal expectations. This is reflected in her music, where she shares a message of empowerment that she has learned during years of stubborn perseverance: how to gain strength, find joy, and believe in yourself. Inspired by her multiple identities, Pina's music invites us on a world and time journey between the jazz ballads and singer-songwriter music of the 60s, classic rock of the 70s, Turkish pop of the 90s and folk fusion between Anatolian rhythms, Brazilian samba and Argentine tango, which she combines with her enchanting voice.
Pina Berlin began her musical journey in Istanbul and moved to Berlin in 2010 at 19 to pursue her passion for music. Starting with school bands, theater and organizing graduation concerts at her school, she studied classical and jazz singing in Istanbul, Berlin and Massachusetts and plays saxophone and ukulele. Pina has released 6 singles to date and has collaborated with a number of high profile artists including producer Fico Jessen, Roland Satterwhite (Tolyqyn), Utku Yurttas, Yurdal Caglar and Eldar Tsalikov (Jungle Jazz Band). She has also performed on some of Berlin's most sought-after stages, including Heimathafen, Klunkerkranich, BiNuu, Karneval der Kulturen and Panda Theater. She has also been nominated twice for prestigious awards with her debut single "I'll Be Missing You" and her album release and release tour were awarded funding from Initiative Musik. Pina Berlin will perform for the first time at Birdland Hamburg, accompanied by a band of talented jazz musicians she met during her musical journey in Berlin. This first Birdland concert promises an exciting trip around the world and a motivated mood before the new week.
