Tommy (Pär Sundberg) and his little sister Annika (Maria Persson) live in a small village in Sweden. One day, a red-haired girl called Pippi (Inger Nilsson) comes riding in on her horse "Little Uncle" and moves into the "Villa Kunterbunt" in the neighborhood.
Tommy, Annika and Pippi quickly become friends. But the adults in the village don't like the idea of Pippi living alone and want to take her to a children's home - but they haven't reckoned with Pippi's strength and her friends.
Originally filmed as a series in Sweden, "Pippi Longstocking" was initially only released as a feature film in Germany. It was only after two years that it was also released as a series, which had to be completely re-dubbed as the series contained additional scenes that did not appear in the film and some of the dubbing actors were no longer available.
