Poetica 11 - »Sing mir Walgesicht, von deiner Begabung zum Licht« – Konzert, Lesungen und Gespräche mit Sarah Howe, Mélissa Laveaux, Mette Moestrup & Daniela Seel

In the organizer's words:

Together we explore the ritual and planetary origins of language - spells, incantations and curses.

We begin literally with Eve, who "knew what she was doing when she ate". In her long poem Nach Eden, German poet Daniela Seel searches for a feminist language that tells us what science knows little about: birth, death and vulnerability. In her poetry collection Foretokens, Hong Kong-born poet Sarah Howe winds DNA strands from the ends of lines. How do we decipher information that is passed down through generations? Touchingly and playfully, she finds poetic freedom in the chromosome babel of incomplete traditions.

"Can the future be tuned mildly?" asks Danish poet Mette Moestrup - and presents a bright red, hymn-like collection with Butterfly Nebula. Live, she unfolds blood divinations - divinations of verses and sounds - and directs our attention to the disturbed metabolism between man and earth.

The songs of Haitian-Canadian musician Mélissa Laveaux also sound like memory magic. Laveaux herself speaks of "transmissions" - when she sings, the air vibrates. On her album Radyo Siwèl, anti-colonial resistance songs by her ancestors merge with queer joy, poppy folk riffs and pulsating beats.
