POETRY SLAM EIMSBÜTTEL  

Punchlines like drumbeats, syllable dances like sax solos, and rhymes like a driving beat—one, two, three—Slam! 

Kampf der Künste brings the poetry slam back to where it first took its first steps: to a jazz cellar, amid an electric atmosphere, cool drinks, and sultry air. Slam began on the stage of the Green Mill Jazz Club in Chicago—so what could be more fitting than bringing it back to its roots in Hamburg: to Birdland in Eimsbüttel. 

But this slam isn’t for the big names. It’s for those who are still on their way to becoming them. At the Poetry Slam Eimsbüttel, the stage is open to new voices, fresh texts, and bold first steps. Anyone who brings a five-minute piece and the courage to step up to the mic can perform—there are six open spots per event. The challengers face off against six contestants who have already proven their skills. Whether it’s poetry, prose, stand-up, storytelling, or rap: every form is allowed. The only rule—the text must be your own original work. 

One microphone. Twelve spots. A hundred pairs of eager ears. Direct, unfiltered, and full of energy.
