How can Germany become more resilient?
Defense capability is more than just military buildup. Together with Irma Petraityte-Luksiene and Frank Sauer, we’ll discuss—while cooking together—why this topic is gaining importance in light of current developments in security policy and what role the state, civil society, and each and every individual play in this context.
We’ll also share insights from our latest Polis study, which examined young people’s perspectives on foreign and European policy.
After all, young people in particular will bear the consequences of today’s foreign and security policy decisions for a particularly long time—which is why we’re creating a space to understand the context and engage in dialogue with one another.
Our Speakers
- Irma Petraityte-Luksiene is Chair of the Commission on Civil Resilience of the Lithuanian World Community. She focuses on the role of civil society in fostering resilience and defense capabilities—particularly in light of the experiences of Lithuania and Ukraine.
- Dr. Frank Sauer is Head of Research at the Metis Institute of the University of the German Armed Forces in Munich. He conducts research and publishes on issues of international politics, specifically the relationship between technology and security. His research focuses particularly on nuclear weapons and the use of robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) in the military.
What’s on the menu?
In keeping with the month of July, we’ll be serving various summer dishes such as Asian noodle salad, mango salsa, and melon-feta salad
