ProVokal – Song Evenings and Recitals at the Kulturhaus Milbertshofen

With ProVokal, the Kulturhaus Milbertshofen is offering a very special concert series this year dedicated exclusively to vocal music. From May through December, 11 song recitals featuring top-notch programs and concepts will take place, performed by professional musicians from the greater Munich area.

The concerts’ repertoire is wide-ranging. Musically, it spans from Romantic art songs to Broadway songs and musicals, and geographically, it extends from Northern and Central Europe to Latin America.

The classical recital emerged in the 19th century and remains very popular to this day. It is a concert format focused on the essentials, in which a single singer performs with an accompanying instrument, usually the piano. The appeal of this format lies in the close connection between the artists and the audience, who virtually come face-to-face over the course of the evening. Without a show or technical aids, the performers engage in a dialogue with the listeners and draw them into their musical world. High art instead of bombast and fanfare.
