In a heteronormative world, men are expected to be as strong as a lion, while women must under no circumstances become “crazy cat ladies”—a purring “pussycat,” on the other hand, is welcome. The Hamburg State Women’s Council and Queere Vernetzung would like to join forces to use the MARKK’s “KATZEN!” exhibition as an opportunity to take a nuanced and entertaining look at some gender stereotypes and explore how they arise, how they affect us, and how they can be broken down.
Program:
- Performances by comedian Sophia Spitzenberg and drag queen Lady Sasha
- Panel discussion with Sophia Spitzenberg, Lady Sasha, and representatives from the Family Planning Center and the Come on, Boys! initiative
- Curator-led tour of the KATZEN! exhibition
