La Mancha. The largest plain in Spain. A flat plateau. Infinite. No mountains. No valleys. A few stupid windmills ... otherwise - nothing. Nada. Too much nothing to bear. The fear of emptiness. El horror del vacío. This fear turns a person into Don Quixote. Someone who wants to squeeze meaning out of the world like juice out of an orange. And from his counterpart. Don Quixote - the witty one - must make something out of nothing. No matter how. In search of a feeling. Lovesickness, for example. Abysmal pain of the soul. Better than nothing at all. Well then ¡Cuando se quiere, se puede! Bastian Reiber's theater is about the risk of making the greatest claim in order to stir up the greatest expectation - and then not fulfilling it (and therefore even more so!). ¿QUÉ PASA EN LA MANCHA? is a ride through the Spanish steppe right into the fantastic spirit of the unique hidalgo Don Quixote. The courage of absolute theater. The ultimate play for the sake of playing - always on the precipice of nothingness.
