Queerer Filmabend

On June 30, we’re once again hosting a queer short film night at the Pöge-Haus. Look forward to three very different films that explore queer perspectives, resistance, utopias, and social issues.

The following films will be screened:

Octavia’s Vision (Germany 2021, 17:30 min.)
Inspired by the works of African-American author Octavia E. Butler, this experimental short film combines visions of the future with current issues such as environmental destruction and right-wing violence, thereby envisioning a queer utopia of change.

SPLITTER (Germany 2024, 29:30 min.)
After an armed attack on a queer bar, Fenix fights relentlessly for justice. But how can one fight hatred without being broken by it oneself? A powerful film about trauma, resistance, and conflicts within one’s own community.

Flowers from Another Garden (Colombia, 15:20 min.)
In northern Colombia, a group of queer activists uses performative actions to draw attention to the social and ecological consequences of coal mining. A poetic yet political documentary about activism, community, and visibility.
