A Festival Series—Reclaim the Music! The new festival-style series “We Didn’t Come Here Just To Be Nice, ” set to take place twice a year in Hamburg, brings together established and emerging artists. There are to be no boundaries. Older fans will be pogoing, just as young music lovers will be celebrating their newly discovered favorite bands—or standing together, shaking their heads at experimental acts. Anything goes, and that’s a message embodied by both jazz and punk. The kickoff is on September 10, 2026, with three acts:

Tan LeRacoon & Racoonery: Tan is no longer an unknown. With his long-standing, stable band lineup—comprising members of legendary punk bands like Punkenstein, Jam Today, and C3I—and a rich musical history: an early fanzine, bassist for Nikki Sudden, wild rock ’n’ roll days, and bands in London and New York, followed by a return to Germany to form the groundbreaking freestyle psychedelic-dub-kraut band Das Weeth Experience, as well as serving as manager and collaborator for Ari Up (The Slits). As Tan LeRacoon, he eclectically blends all his influences and preferences. The album “Funeral Parade Of Roses” was released in 2019 on the jazz/soul label Légère Recordings. In August 2026, their third LP (via La Pochette Surprise) will be released—another statement spanning everything from half-minute power pop to hard, Detroit-infused rock ’n’ roll.

Kitty Coaster —Simply striking up a conversation with the guitarist on the park bench to see if he was up for starting a band—that’s how singer Kat Versus and guitarist Max founded Kitty Coaster in 2023. The park bench soon turned into a rehearsal space, and with the addition of drummer Sunny and bassist Verena, Kitty Coaster became a full-fledged band. Following their debut release, the rehearsal room recording “Shame,” the four of them took Hamburg’s stages by storm in 2026 with their mix of punk and stoner rock. And to make sure they don’t have to head backstage too soon, they’re hard at work writing new songs.

Not punk —the band with Hamburg’s best band name is still the musical cherry on top of the dog pile we call the world. The power pop trio Infernale, consisting of Amy Grindhouse, Tara Satana, and Hulk Hagen, are the flesh-and-blood fever dream of every B-movie freak. An exploitation power pop explosion of the lowest order—Bad Taste The Best Way!
