Reden von morgen: Zukunft ohne Angst
In the organizer's words:
On June 28, starting at 11 a.m., Isabella Hermann will present a lecture exploring new, hopeful perspectives in times of bad news, using examples from books in the dystopian and science fiction genres:
And every day, the end of the world rears its head—on TV, in the movies, on social media. The apocalypse, playing on a continuous loop, has become a constant companion in our daily lives. Political scientist Isabella Hermann presents a surprising counter-movement: anti-dystopias that allow something new to emerge from the rubble of the old order. In her latest book, *A Future Without Fear: How Anti-Dystopias Open Up New Perspectives*, she hits the political nail on the head. While the discourse on catastrophe plunges us into a kind of collective paralysis, anti-dystopias experiment with practical solutions. Their protagonists do not wait for rescue from above. They reorganize neighborhoods, invent alternative economic systems, and practice radical solidarity.
Isabella Hermann is a political scientist who analyzes science fiction. She explores how the genre reflects societal values, shapes debates about new technologies, and forms narratives of the future—and how we can shape positive futures in dystopian times.
