Reel Love ft. Beginners (OmU) - Celebrating Coming Out Stories - Open Air Cinema & Fundraiser 🏳️🌈❤️🩹
In the organizer's words:
When it comes to relationships, nothing is more important than staying true to oneself and being honest about your feelings. And nobody knows that truth more deeply than the LGBTQ+ community, who continue to have to fight for one of the simplest of human rights: loving who you love without fear of persecution.
That's why, at our next Reel Love event, we'll be honoring our LGBTQ+ community members and holding space for them to revisit and celebrate their Coming Out experiences. We invite our entire global community to share as much or as little about their experiences, which we will share before our open air screening of Beginners (OmU), a movie that reminds us that it's never too late to be you are.
If you would like to share your experiences with our community, take our Reel Love survey and your answers will the group, as well as online. No matter where you are in the world, we would love to hear from you. Anonymous submissions are also more than welcome.
It breaks our hearts that this event will be taking place in the wake of yet another evil, senseless act of violence against the LGBTQ+ community at the CSD parade. A day which should have been about celebrating unconditional love and honoring the slow progress we're making as a society was turned into a tragedy, and is now being used as political ammunition. Meanwhile, our queer friends are grieving and wondering if, when, and where they will ever truly be safe.
But if there were ever a time for us to come together and stand shoulder to shoulder with our Queer friends, it's right now. To prove that love will always outshine hate, that we will continue to be Out and proud, and that we're in this fight together.
To stand in solidarity with our friends in the Queer Community, ReSee and the Filmrauschpalast will be donating our share of the proceeds to LGBTQ+ nonprofits, and running a fundraiser in parallel. We'll share details on the charities once we consult our LGBTQ+ community members, to make sure that the donations go to the right places.
We hope to see you there, and more importantly, that you are loved and welcomed in the ReSee community ❤️
