Pianist, singer and composer Reuben James is one of the most exciting voices on the current UK jazz scene, elegantly blending jazz, funk and soul with modern pop. He has established himself as a "musician's musician" and has been involved in projects with Stormzy, Disclosure, Liam Payne, Sam Smith, James Bay, Little Mix and Lang Lang as well as the music for the successful Apple TV+ series "Ted Lasso". His virtuoso piano playing, his soulful, warm voice and his unerring sense of groove are an experience - whether in an intimate jazz club or on large festival stages. Reuben James' latest album "Big People Music" features a star-studded line-up of international guests, including Jamie Cullum, Emeli Sandé, US trumpeter Theo Croker and Joe Armon-Jones from the Ezra Collective. Funky rhythms, jazzy improvisations, soulful harmonies and catchy pop melodies characterize his refined and captivating compositions, which work just as well on a concert stage as on the dance floor of a club or on the radio and yet are far from being mainstream music. At the concert on the Seebühne, Reuben James plays a Fender Rhodes and in a trio with Nathan Shingler on drums and Immanuel Simelani on double bass.
