Gerd Kroske began his training in the GDR and started making films in the immediate run-up to reunification. Since then, he has been a keen observer of social ruptures as they manifest themselves in the fates of marginalized people in East and West. He discovers in them the contrasting beauty and wit that characterize his films just as much as precise observation. Films against the grain.

The discussion will focus on his latest film SPK Komplex, on the complexity of Gerd Kroske's portrayal of society and the cinematic means he uses to achieve it.

Gerd Kroske (*1958 in Dessau), vocational training as a concrete worker, youth cultural work. From 1980 interrupted studies in cultural studies, guest student at the HFF Potsdam. Until 1991 dramaturge at the DEFA documentary film studio.
