RIKE BEHLAU - SHADE HOUSE
In the organizer's words:
The first draft of Rike Behlau’s mystery story serves as the basis for this installation-style visual tapestry, which combines photographs by Canadian photographer Rebecca Hartery, archival images, selected found objects, and an audio accompaniment by sound artist Philipp Kohlmann.
The story connects the past and the present: 1917 and 2017 enter into a dialogue—and the parallels are uncomfortable. Androcentrism, racism, and religious zeal serve as connecting threads across a century and are reflected in a present that yearns for a return to conservative values.
“In a small town, life is thrown into disarray when young Melissa discovers a dead doppelgänger. Suspicion and hostility meet her as she tries to unravel the mystery. She finds support in Eustace, who is also on the trail of mysterious events. Together, they venture deep into the surrounding forests—to a place where a mysterious force seems to manipulate time.”
