Courage for Change
Noch niemand hat sich das Event gemerkt.
In the organizer's words:
Rarely has our industry been confronted with so many challenges at once as it is now: the existential threat posed by climate change, the fight for justice and tolerance, while societal values are shifting alarmingly to the right.
Now, more than ever, we need courage! The courage to use our own voices, to shed light on injustices, and to actively help shape a just, diverse, and free society that leaves a safe place for future generations. The music industry—and artists in particular—have a special power in this regard. As role models and catalysts, they can lead the way, take a stand, and drive change.
With “Courage for Change,” Music Declares Emergency Germany is shining a spotlight on precisely these people and projects: artists and initiatives that advocate for climate justice and environmental protection and have the courage to make a statement with innovative—and sometimes risky—ideas.
Also featured is the climate compilation “No Music on a Dead Planet” by the Hanover branch of the climate movement Culture Declares Emergency, on which musicians such as Maybebop, Orchester im Treppenhaus, Serpentin, and The Hirsch Effekt have transformed their thoughts and feelings about the climate crisis and species extinction into music. The accompanying album cover was designed by Hanover-based artist and designer Janosch Kunze.
The exhibition takes place as part of the themed evening “Can’t Stop the Music!”, which will also feature a panel discussion on September 10 starting at 5:30 p.m.—featuring Jean-Philippe Kindler, among others—and a concert at 8:00 p.m. with the acts listentojules and VINTER on Andreas-Hermes-Platz.
