Song recital with choral support

"Small ensemble, distinctive effect" (Hamburger Abendblatt) - in October 2025, audiences in Hamburg were treated to a particularly pure vocal experience when the Balthasar Neumann Choir enchanted audiences with only piano and harmonium accompaniment. The world-class ensemble is now presenting this intimate format, which focuses entirely on the interplay of voices, for the second time and has an absolute rarity in its luggage: Schumann's enchanting musical fairy tale "Der Rose Pilgerfahrt", which will be performed for the first time in the Elbphilharmonie. The vocal soloists on stage are two world-class stars: soprano Victoria Randem and tenor Julian Prégardien. The special aura of this performance is further intensified by the choice of accompanying instrument. The unique sound of the fortepiano is less polished than that of modern pianos and can conjure up moments of the most fragile intimacy, only to immediately provide dramatic intensification with gripping directness.
