Who is Ryder The Eagle? DIY anti-hero, fallen Romeo, karaoke weirdo... The Mexico-based French indie bard is everything (and nothing) you'd expect from a divorced soft rock singer chasing his dreams in the village pub.

With lo-fi synthesizer soundscapes, poetic melodies and songwriting, and cathartic, unique live performances, Ryder The Eagle tells his stories of love and sorrow garnished with sharp wit that prevents drifting into kitsch.

After numerous US and European tours supporting the likes of Adam Green and Franz Ferdinand, Ryder The Eagle is finally embarking on his first headline tour!

Ryder The Eagle's new album "Autotango" will be released on April 26, 2024 and is his most personal and intimate work to date. Our French anti-hero deals with topics such as depression (The Fireman Is Blue), identity problems (Two Birds) or the addiction to unhappiness (The Rain In My Heart), each time relating them to the outside world through the prism of love (Purple Dress). Unlike in the past, when he blamed others for his broken heart, he now manages to be reflective and honest with himself and thus initiate a self-healing process.

The introspective nine songs were written and recorded within two months. Working analog forced Ryder to completely exhaust himself at every step of the recording process, leaving no unnecessary room for excessive perfectionism, doubt or prolonged rethinking. And so Ryder created his rawest but purest album to date, finding redemption in synthy soundscapes, lyrical melodies and poetic songwriting.

After writing down all the songs, Ryder wrote string arrangements and asked American violinist Jesse Kotansky (who also played with Adam Green) to record the string parts in his studio in New York City. This process of layering lo-fi synthesizer soundscapes and orchestral violins makes this album ambivalent and special, creating a fractured baroque atmosphere that reminds us of artists like Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave or Scott Walker, with the wit and immediacy of a modern art-folk storyteller.

His girlfriend, French photographer and painter Eloïse Labarbe-Lafon, set up a darkroom in the fishing hut behind their shared house to photograph, edit and hand-paint the artwork for "Autotango", in keeping with the organic feel of the album.

The record was mixed in L.A. by Noah Georgeson (The Strokes, Devendra Banhart, Adam Green, Rodrigo Amarante, Little Joy) and mastered in Ottawa by Philip Shaw Bova (AngelOlsen, Father John Misty, The National, Andy Shauf).

Autotango will be released on April 26. 2024. Ryder will then embark on his first headlining tour of Mexico, Europe, the UK and North America for the rest of the year.
