On the one hand, we in Germany take democracy for granted, but at the same time it is more endangered than it has been for a long time. Many countries in our immediate European neighborhood - Hungary, the Netherlands, France and Austria - have already shown the way: extremist forces are gaining influence and threatening democracy.

But what exactly does it mean when democracy comes under threat? What would be the immediate effects? Which institutions of a democratic society would come under particular pressure? And what would be the alternative to democracy as we know it? Autocracy or dictatorship?

Time to devote an entire evening to democracy in order to get to know its weak points and counter-designs and thus be able to counter the dangers to democracy in a concrete way.
