About SALSABIL:
The SALSABIL ensemble was founded in 1995 to cultivate classical oriental Makam music - especially the mystical Tasavvuf music - and make it accessible to a wider audience. The focus is on the rich musical heritage of the Ottoman Empire, which has grown across religious and cultural boundaries. Muslim, Jewish and Christian musicians shaped this tradition in equal measure.
