When old and new roots intertwine.

*Samir Calixto*, who has choreographed for *Of Curious Nature* several times, is coming to Bremen with a very personal solo work. For RAIZ (Portuguese: root), he powerfully traces the path from his Brazilian origins to his current artistic identity. As a young child, he experienced rituals handed down from African culture in which music and movement served to reconnect people with their roots. These "ceremonies", with their forcefulness and abundance of rhythms and sounds, had a lasting influence on his artistic development.
Originally trained as a classical singer, the choreographer is known for his special way of using iconic works from Western music history as inspiration for captivating dance pieces. In RAIZ, it is possible to experience how his stage work achieves an essential human depth and universality in the contemporary connection between his cultural heritage and the Western musical canon.

The dancer and choreographer K*ossi Sébastien Aholou-Wokawui* accompanies Calixto's piece with a solo that enters into a dialog with his own ancestors, who, among other things, were deported to Brazil, far away from their homeland to preserve their dignity. In this way, he throws dance highlights on the interweaving of African and Brazilian culture.

All public areas of the Schwankhalle are at ground level and accessible without steps.

There are three different toilets: a barrier-free toilet that can also be used by wheelchair users, a toilet with three toilet cubicles and a toilet with urinals and a toilet cubicle.

The public area is generally seated.
The wheelchair spaces are located in the front row and can be reserved in advance by telephone (tel: 0421 520 80 70), by email (email: ticket@schwankhalle.de) or by entering them in the ticket store.

Individual requirements such as specific seats, early boarding or an additional ticket for an accompanying person can also be specified when purchasing or reserving tickets.
