With the end of flight operations, a unique flora and fauna has developed at Tempelhofer Feld. Amid the former runways, in the heart of the city, animal species worthy of protection thrive, and numerous plant species flourish across the vast meadows. 

In addition to the many gardeners who work here, a flock of sheep is also used to help maintain the landscape. About 100 Skudde sheep—a breed threatened with extinction—have found a new home on the grounds. Our master shepherd, Frank Wasem, explains the connections between nature conservation and sustainable agriculture and answers your questions about grazing with sheep.

Important Notes: Pleaseallow enough time for the trip and arrive on time. Please wear weather-appropriate clothing (rain or sun protection), sturdy shoes, and bring plenty of drinks. Tempelhofer Feld is very exposed to wind and sun.
