Schröders Garten: Heinz Strunk - Memories of Heidelberg
In the organizer's words:
Three years ago, Heinz Strunk invited us to Niendorf in the summer; in his new novel, the journey takes us to the romantic Kurpfalz region. Bertram and Isolde, a couple of a certain age from Oldenburg, want to treat themselves to a truly wonderful short vacation in Heidelberg. Perhaps that will also dispel the emotional smog hanging over their marriage. The boutique hotel is expensive, but not all that great for the price; on the other hand, the two have already found a new favorite Italian restaurant. The restaurant, full of charm, is located on an old riverboat on the Neckar. As their marriage visibly falls apart over the course of the week, their evening trips to the restaurant boat also become more and more of a disappointment, a punishment, and a living hell. The devilish forces burst into their everyday life with devastating power, culminating in a catastrophe—all set to the old-school pop hit “Memories of Heidelberg” on continuous loop.
