6. Leipziger Frauen*FLINTA*Festival

PICK OF THE DAY Festivals
PICK OF THE DAY
You cannot miss this event.
In the organizer's words:

Free and democratic life everywhere needs the active and equal participation of FLINTA* - women, lesbians, inter and non-binary people, trans and agender people

The Sixth Leipzig Women's*FLINTA Festival is a festival with many female* artists... with feminist initiatives, with a large offer and information market... with numerous female entrepreneurs, craftswomen, project groups and associations. It is a feminist cultural festival that takes a clear socio-political stance - and invites people to listen, talk to each other, celebrate and dance. This is not a contradiction, because art and culture ultimately always contain reflections on everyday life and can act as a very direct input for thematic debates.

In order to shape our future fairly, we need far-reaching public spirit and foresight. Much has been achieved in democratic countries in recent decades - but even in these countries today, many people cannot lead a "non-violent, balanced life". Violence, racism, queer hostility, the unequal distribution of care work, poverty in old age, wage differences based on gender - the list of everyday violence and discrimination is long. And even in 2024, they are rooted in existing patriarchal structures. Overcoming all patriarchal power and violence against women*, against FLINTA*, against people... is essential for a future worth living for all people.

One of the festival's aims is to initiate dialogues and discourses on the art and culture of women*|FLINTA* in order to publicly highlight the background of social injustice and gender-specific non-equality - and to promote joint civil society feminist action.

Our feminist action is directed against every patriarchal system that instrumentalizes, humiliates, rapes and kills FLINTA* - and our solidarity always belongs to all women*|FLINTA* worldwide!
We want a future that is fair for all! That is why we demand: Overcome patriarchal violence! We are fighting for a just future! But what do we all have to do? At our festival, we want to address this question, among others - through a wide variety of feminist artistic acts and offers - and thus initiate discussions & conversations & changes...

Numerous feminist groups and initiatives from Leipzig and beyond will present their work at the festival. There will be space for exchange and networking. There will be a podium, inputs and information stands for everyone interested in feminist issues. And to experience and celebrate the courage, strength and creativity of women* and FLINTA* live, we have invited inspiring artists, musicians and dancers.

All of them have different biographies and bring different experiences with them - that is our strength. At our festival, we want to offer everyone a place to be visible, get to know each other and network.

The Sixth Leipzig Women*FLINTA*Festival is a festival for ALL people!
