In the organizer's words:
“Art-Punk by Non-Punks and Non-Artists” — Raised in Utah and based in L.A., Sego first caught the attention of local trendsetters with their penchant for avant-garde grooves that serve as the driving force behind catchy indie-pop hooks. Since their formation, Sego has racked up all the accolades that modern indie bands dream of with their prolific output and experimental live shows: Praise from the music press (including NPR), European tours, appearances at festivals like Bonnaroo and Austin City Limits, and a nationally broadcast commercial (for Xfinity) that aired during the Olympics and the Super Bowl.
Sego—comprising Spencer, Thomas, Derv, and Kathleen—live and work together in a converted warehouse in downtown L.A. and have since released three studio albums as well as a series of singles, EPs, and compilation tracks on labels such as Kitsuné, Dine Alone, Roll Call Records, and others. In doing so, they continue to expand their pop sensibilities and thematic explorations—always paired with the rebellious spirit and intelligence that make them arguably the most captivating art-punk act on the current scene.
