Christian theology lists seven deadly sins that lead the human soul to the greatest destruction. They represent temptations to which all people are fundamentally exposed: Greed & avarice, envy, lust, anger, pride, gluttony and sloth. Those who succumb to them must suffer eternal punishment in hell. However, in the modern age, the ethical evaluation has largely changed: today, people are responsible for their possessions, fame and success, they are encouraged to hunt for political, economic and social positions. What used to be condemned as a mortal sin has become a modern virtue. Each of the seven deadly sins now corresponds to a chapter in the bible of the successful person.
How can we distinguish virtues from vices today? Philosopher Gunter Gebauer talks about this with presenter Jürgen Wiebicke.
