Set It Off

The genre-busting pop-punk band from the USA returns to Germany for four shows in 2025

Once founded as a pop punk and emo band, Set It Off have evolved over the years with a constantly modern sound. While R&B elements found their way into the band's sound on the breakthrough album "Duality", "Midnight" (2019) touched on modern pop rock and hip-hop influences. Ultimately, Set It Off 2023 announced that they would be returning to their early pop punk roots on their next album. It has always been the unconventional musical approach, which is also audible on "Wolf In Sheep's Clothing" (250 million Spotify streams) and "Partners In Crime" feat. Ash Costello (150 million streams) - the band's biggest hits - that made Set It Off unique. In addition to a US headline tour, and tours with You Me At Six and Ice Nine Kills, they played the When We Where Young Festival, Download UK, Rock Am Ring and Rock For People in 2023, and thus the most relevant festivals in their genre. Momentum is on the side of the band, who currently have more than 3.2 million monthly Spotify listeners. As direct support for I, Prevail in May 2024, Set It Off also played their way further into the hearts of many German music fans - in 2025 they will return as headliners for four shows with a new album.

Founded in Tampa, Florida in 2008, Set It Off released three EPs and several singles by 2010. These included the EP "Horrible Kids", which was re-released as a remaster via Equal Vision Records in 2011 after the band signed with the label. Their debut album " Cinematics " followed in 2012 and landed the band's first big hit with "I Sleep When I'm Dead" and its symphonic rock sound. The second album "Duality ", released in 2014, ultimately brought the band their international breakthrough. "The Haunting" and "Why Worry" became hits, while "Wolf In Sheep's Clothing" feat. William Beckett became the band's flagship and impressed with its unconventional musical approach, which was complemented by a wide range of instruments such as wind instruments and strings and often revealed a subtle tendency towards theatricality with catchy choruses. "Uncontainable" and "Hypnotized" allowed the album "Upside Down", which followed in 2016, to enter the Billboard 200 at number 51 - the best chart position that Set It Off has ever achieved. In 2019, "Midnight" became another milestone in the band's career, with "Killer In The Mirror" playing with a poppy lightness and a modern alternative vibe on a pompous production. Shortly after the release, Set It Off shrank to a trio consisting of Cody Carson, Zach DeWall and Maxx Danziger - but this was not accompanied by a musical break. On their latest album "Elsewhere", which entered the Billboard charts at number 88, Set It Off worked with a wide range of new influences. Kerrang! attested that the band is experimenting with influences from R&B, hip-hop and 2000s pop. With the approach of returning to their own musical roots, the current single "Fake Ass Friends", like the single "Punching Bag" released in 2023, marks a first taste of what the band's sixth album will sound like. With modern alternative rock, poppy choruses, hard breakdowns and a positive attitude, Set It Off show themselves from their strongest side yet, resulting in great listening pleasure.
