Seven last words - texts and music on the Passion

Questions, cries, lamentations: the seven words of the cross are recorded in the four gospels of the New Testament. As early as the 6th century, these sayings were placed in a chronological sequence parallel to the Passion story.

Over the centuries, many composers, theologians and writers have been inspired by these words, reflecting on and interpreting their meaning.

This concert brings the Seven Words of the Cross to life through the interplay of words, organ improvisations, texts and a cappella compositions and invites new perspectives.

Organ improvisations; texts by Rinser, Jens, Rahner and others; music by Kaminski, Mendelssohn, Bach and others.
