BERLIN - UBER EATS MUSIC HALL
"Unparalleled majesty. While many orchestral shows end up with formulaic string sections laid over songs that otherwise remain entirely the same, this show feels like the band's material has almost been re-built from the ground up" - 5*, Rolling Stone UK
"An out-of-body experience. A rousing, celestial performance of the band's extensive back catalogue" - 5*, The London Standard
"Crashing waves of refined harmony. The extra heft of the orchestra adds power to the Icelanders' beautiful crescendos" - 4*, The Guardian
Sigur Rós announce the final dates of their epic world tour, working with local 41-piece orchestras and bringing to life their latest album "ÁTTA" as well as the most popular tracks from their extensive repertoire. The final leg of the tour kicks off in Edinburgh on August 31, 2026 and takes in Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland, France, Spain and Portugal before concluding with two concerts in Berlin on September 20 and 21.
The new concerts offer fans the final opportunity to experience this unique performance by Sigur Rós in collaboration with conductor Robert Ames and in Berlin with The Young Class X Orchestra and Choir, making these dates another important milestone in their career. The tour has already seen them perform in some of the world's most prestigious concert hall and orchestral venues, including London's Royal Albert Hall, the Sala Santa Cecilia in Rome, the Salle Playel in Paris, the Bozar in Brussels, the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City and the Vienna Konzerthaus; They have also worked with the London Contemporary Orchestra (LCO), the Wordless Music Orchestra, the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, the Taiwan National Symphony Orchestra, the Resound Collective, the Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, among others.
Kjartan Sveinsson says: "We are very much looking forward to returning to the orchestral concerts in September. It's always very special to sit in the middle of the orchestra, surrounded by all the fantastic musicians we've played with over the last four years. Thank you to everyone who came to our concerts, all the musicians, the crew and a special thanks to our conductor and arranger Rob Ames and our main arranger María Huld Markan Sigfúsdóttir."
In 2023, Sigur Rós decided to add orchestral accompaniment to their tours for the first time, with the band wanting to spotlight not only themselves but also a number of outstanding orchestras from around the world. After reuniting with keyboardist Kjartan Sveinsson in 2022, the band members performed together with full orchestras in major concert halls around the world. The performances are as expressive and indescribable as the band itself - proof of the timeless appeal of Sigur Rós.
The final leg of the tour follows a period in which the band's fans were treated to plenty of new music: At the start of the new decade, the band delved deep into their archives to unearth long-awaited works. First, they released "Odin's Raven Magic" (2020), an orchestral album originally created almost two decades ago, and later reissued "()" to mark its 20th anniversary in 2022. Their first collection of new material in almost a decade, 'ÁTTA' (2023), is heavily orchestral and features contributions from the London Contemporary Orchestra. Last September, the band released a special 20th anniversary edition of their acclaimed album "Takk..." - their major label debut and the commercial breakthrough for a band that has never aimed for the mainstream.
With almost ten million albums sold, Sigur Rós are now one of the most ambitious and renowned bands of recent times, with new artistic projects pointing to a promising, exciting future.
