JANDA is a composer, guitarist, studied jazz/pop singer and podcaster from Leipzig. After the release of her debut album "THE OTHER YOU", she reached the final of the "Fender
Paramount Singer/Songwriter Contest" and won a video production (TV Noir/Berlin) - LIVE SESSIONS followed for Deutschlandfunk and Radioeins Berlin, among others.
As part of the pop noir female trio COUCOU, she took part in the German Music Council's POPCAMP, successfully released an album (2016) and in 2020 an EP, which was created in collaboration with producer legend Olaf Opal.
The 10 new songs were released in November 2023 under the title "APNOE" (ancient Greek: "do not breathe"):
Richly produced and atmospherically impressive, the album tells of a dive between two breaths and sounds like the acoustic storyboard for a movie that doesn't yet exist. Influences such as Becca Stevens, Joni Mitchell, Fink and Sufjan Stevens shine through, and yet: Janda's sound is different.
With an effortless mixture of folk structures, jazz, pop and electronic set pieces, she explores the boundaries of the singer/songwriter genre. APNOE goes into depth both emotionally and literally, captivating listeners. Janda's crystal-clear, nuanced voice is unmistakable.
MDR Kultur described Janda's debut album "THE OTHER YOU" as "a listener's delight, full of surprising twists and turns (...) between sophisticated pop, jazz, chanteuse, great voice, intimate moments and all at the same time already so mature, far-reaching and coherent as far as her own musical universe is concerned."
"...the discovery of the evening..." (Westdeutsche Zeitung // Jazzfestival Viersen)
"The power of APNOE lies in the calm and depth of the music (...) Janda proves herself to be an impressive musician." (Thoralf Koß // Music Reviews)
