When two celebrated duos join forces to form such a fusion quartet, musical boundaries automatically blur. The finest jazz content is guaranteed by accordionist Vincent Peirani and soprano saxophonist Emile Parisien. On the other hand, the legendary kora player Ballaké Sissoko contributes world music flavors from Africa to Asia together with cellist Vincent Segal.
The two pairs of musicians met for the first time in 2019 at the festival "Les Nuits de Fourvière" in Lyon. And right at the first jam session, the four musicians developed this multilingual freedom and desire for dialogue, which has now also characterized the debut album "Les Égarés". After all, they span the spectrum from the West African folk music of the Mandinkas to French musette and Joe Zawinul's energetic "Orient Express"!
